WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
ABOUT ZEGALCON

Stephen Chan
- Oldham, Li & Nie

“Thoroughly enjoyed attending the inaugural ZegalCon as a speaker on the legal panel.  LegalTech has such great potential to change the way we serve clients; we would be irresponsible not to utilize the right technology for the right matters. Not all lawyers are created equal, and neither is technology. The challenge is in properly identifying the diamonds in the rough.”

Charles Mok
- Legislative Council

“ZegalCon opened my eyes to the world of LegalTech. Legal needs tech, and tech needs legal – especially in today’s world where startups are creating intellectual capital and innovating with technologies that challenge the existing laws.”

Darren FitzGerald
- FitzGerald Lawyers

“Privileged to be part of Zegal’s first ZegalCon.  Less like a conference, more like entertainment, with a DJ and waiters on hand at the venue.  Substance too with engaging speakers and topics.   Well done to the Zegal team for making this happen in a fun and informative way.”

  • Maurits Fornier
    Founder, Fornier Legal Design

Maurits Fornier is the founder of Fornier Legal Design. He is a practicing lawyer and legal designer based in Amsterdam.
Prior to that, Maurits worked as a lawyer in the arbitration and litigation team of Freshfields in Amsterdam (and briefly Hong Kong). As a lawyer, Maurits experienced first-hand the vast amount of information lawyers, clients and judges need to process and comprehend.
In order to deal with this challenge, he started using visuals, diagrams and flowcharts. It was a logical step to use these visuals not only as an analytical tool to structure thinking internally, but take them out ‘to the real world’.
Maurits started using visuals to communicate with clients in order to further develop legal reasoning and case strategy. And lastly, to argue the case in court.
Nowadays, Maurits and his team use design principles to help clients solve legal problems. They work on projects related to contracting, compliance, negotiations, and litigation.
Fornier Legal Design’s clients include start-ups, multinationals and law firms.
